It has been a while since I posted my last entry. During this time our little P. joined us - he was born on July 17th -. He is healthy, calm, beautiful and an absolute blessing! We couldn´t be happier! L. has reacted really well and so far enjoys holding his baby brother and helping mummy. However, Dubai´s heat limits our activities a lot, as we can´t play outside and I can´t go to the pool for the moment, so we are trying to do fun indoor activities!
Hace mucho que no escribía, y es que últimamente ha habido muchos cambios en nuestra vida! El más importante, el pequeño P. vino al mundo el 17 de julio! Es un niño sano, tranquilo y precioso y estamos locos de alegría! L. ha reaccionado fenomenal, le encanta ayudarme con su hermano y hacerle caricias. Sin embargo, el calor de Dubai no lo está llevando tan bien, porque no podemos jugar al aire libre ni disfrutar de la piscina, de modo que me las ingenio para entretenerle en casa.
So I won´t share a recipe with you today, but an idea to keep your kids entertained during the summer
Es por ello que hoy no compartiré con vosotros una receta, sino una idea para entretener a los niños durante el caluroso verano dubaití.
Today we are making RECYCLED PAPER CONTAINERS, and since this is still a food blog, we have used flour to make our own glue and we have decided the best use for our container is to fill it up with smarties!
Hoy preparamos CAJAS DE PAPEL RECICLADO. Y como éste es un blog de cocina, hemos usado harina para hacer pegamento casero, y vamos a rellenar nuestras cajas de smarties de chocolate!
Ingredients: Ingredientes:
- 1 cup of flour - 1 taza de harina
- 4 cups of water - 4 tazas de agua
- old magazines - revistas viejas
- 2 bowls - 2 boles
- petroleum jelly - vaselina
Mix the flour and 1 cup of water in a sauce pan and heat. When it is completely blended, add the rest of the water and let it boil. Then stir constantly until it thickens. Let it cool.
Mezclamos la harina y una taza de agua en un cazo y calentamos. Cuando se haya integrado perfectamente la harina con el agua, añadimos el resto de agua y esperamos a que hierva. A continuación removemos constantemente hasta que espese y dejamos que enfríe.
While the glue cools down, cut the old magazines into small pieces and grease both bowls with the petroleum jelly.
Mientras el pegamento se va enfriando, recortamos las revistas en trozos pequeños y engrasamos los boles con la vaselina.
Now start by covering the inside of the bowl with some paper, then coat with some homemade glue. Add another layer of paper, again glue, and carry on doing this until you have completed about 8-10 layers of paper. Let it dry completely and remove from the bowls.
Cubriremos el interior de los boles con trozos de papel, para después añadir una capa de pegamento. De nuevo pondremos una capa de papel, y más pegamento y así sucesivamente hasta que hayamos completado unas 8-10 capas. Dejamos que seque completamente y retiramos de los boles.
You can now leave it as it is or make your own patern on a white sheet of paper which you will then incorporate using the homemade glue. We made a frog with ours - at least L. says it is a frog... - and, as i said, filled it up with yummy smarties!
Las cajitas ya están listas, pero podéis decorarlas con vuestros colores favoritos o con formas geométricas, por ejemplo. Nosotros hemos convertido la nuestra en una ranita - o al menos eso dice L. que es... - y, como ya dije, la usamos para guardas los smarties!
